Wanted! The best cell for cardiac regeneration.

چکیده
espite the development of novel pharmacological strateies and electrophysiological and surgical treatment regiens, heart failure remains one of the major causes of ortality in the western world. Heart failure can develop as consequence of myocardial infarction despite revascularzation procedures. Ischemia-induced death of cardiac myoytes results in scar formation and reduced contractility of he ventricle. Cell therapy for the regeneration of contractile issue or the improvement of vascularization was proposed s a novel therapeutic option. Several distinct cell types were sed in experimental and first clinical pilot trials. The crucial uestion currently is: which cells are best suited for cardiac egeneration and vascularization? Obviously, the answer to his question is complex. Practical and safety issues as well s the different types of patients we have to treat have a ajor impact. Moreover, the different routes of cell delivery, ither by intravenous/intracoronary infusion or intramyoardial injection, can yield different outcomes.

Role of Stem Cells in Cardiac Cell Therapy and Tissue Engineering
Background: In spite of promising results of conventional treatments for myocardial infarction, including medications, stent implantation, and coronary artery bypass grafting, the disease and its complications, especially heart failure, are highly prevalent because these methods could not reverse the cell loss, which is the main problem. Currently, heart transplantation, as the last option f...
متن کاملAre Stem Cells the next Therapeutic Tool for Heart Repair?
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States and Europe. In recent years, the understanding that regenerative processes exist at the level of the myocardium, has placed stem cell research at center stage in cardiology. A stem cell is a cell that has the ability to divide (self replicate) for indefinite periods often throughout the life of the ...
متن کاملSelection of best door-to-cardiac regeneration (D2CR) time
In spite of great progress in the treatment of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) events in reperfusion era, patients are still at risk for development of heart failure due to negative remodeling. Thus, the importance of regenerative therapies in parallel with reperfusion strategies is fundamental. A key feature in this case is obtaining the most appropriate door-to-cardiac regeneration (D2CR) time....
متن کاملTherapeutic angiogenesis promotes efficacy of human umbilical cord matrix stem cell transplantation in cardiac repair
Objective(s):Although previous studies have confirmed the beneficial effects of human umbilical cord matrix stem cell (hUCM) transplantation post myocardial infarction (MI), but this stem cell resource has no potential to induce angiogenesis. In order to achieve the process of angiogenesis and cardiomyocyte regeneration, two required factors for cardiac repair agents were examined namely; hUCM ...

It was assumed that the loss of cardiomyocytes is irreversible. The main goal is to develop widely available and clinically applicable treatments for heart diseases. The several studies have showed that the use of stem cells can improve complicacies such as cardiovascular diseases. Stem cells have a potential benefit of the self-renewal and cell differentiation into the cell types that can play...
